  Balor, sometimes known as Balor of the Evil Eye, is a legendary fae king, though by his account, the legends aren't entirely accurate. They're correct in that his right eye can kill those who meet its gaze, and that he once suffered an unfortunate defeat, but according to him, the rest is all wrong. This is one of many reasons he's not all that fond of humanity- another being that humanity now rules the world, while the fae hide away beneath it. What's worse is that his people, the Fomorians, are considered the enemies of most other fae, resulting in their relative exile. Shunned by everyone else, Balor and his people exist only on the fringes, and this means that Balor is often left bored. And this is his entire reasoning for contact with the human world at all.
  Despite his general dislike of humanity, he is interested in their ways, their food, and, most importantly, their technology. The world outside has moved forward by quite a bit during the many ages he spent underground, and he wants a piece of it. He gets this piece in exchange for sometimes working with a certain secret government division. They know better than to ask anything foolish of him, but it's definitely in their best interests to keep a fae king with a deadly gaze in their back pocket.
